Mark Jennings
Managing Partner

Mark Jennings is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Generation Partners. Mr. Jennings operates out the firm’s Austin office.  

Mr. Jennings has been an active private equity investor for 25 years and is responsible for the strategic direction, capital commitments and management of the firm. Prior to founding Generation in 1995, Mr. Jennings was a General Partner at Centre Partners, a private investment firm affiliated with Lazard Frères & Co.  Mr. Jennings began his career at Goldman Sachs & Co. where he advised companies in the areas of financial strategy, public offerings, mergers & acquisitions and leveraged buyouts.

Mr. Jennings has served on the Board of Directors of 26 companies, including on the boards of Captivate Network – a digital place based media company; Virtual Radiologic Corporation (VRAD) – a leading teleradiology provider which is transforming the practice of interpreting diagnostic images; inVentiv Health (VTIV) -- a leading provider of sales, marketing and data services to the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries; MedVance Institute -- a specialty education company, focused on allied health degrees and career training; Agility Recovery Solutions -- a leading business continuity provider; Sterling Infosystems -- a leading employment screening company; and Post University, a 120+ year old regionally-accredited university offering Associates, Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

Mr. Jennings earned his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1986 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Highest Honors from The University of Texas at Austin in 1984, where Mr. Jennings graduated second in his class and received the University's Rhodes Scholarship nomination.


John Hawkins
Managing Partner


John Hawkins is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Generation Partners. Mr. Hawkins operates out of the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Prior to founding Generation, Mr. Hawkins was a General Partner of Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co., a venture capital firm which he joined in 1987. At Burr, Egan, Deleage, Mr. Hawkins invested mainly in telecommunications, data communications, software, and business services companies. Prior to this, he worked in the Corporate Finance Department of Alex. Brown & Sons, Inc. in San Francisco, where he advised information technology companies in the areas of financial strategy, public offerings and mergers & acquisitions. Earlier, he was a publishing research analyst covering information technology companies for Woodman, Kirkpatrick & Gilbreath an investment bank which was subsequently purchased by Hambrecht & Quist.

Through Generation and predecessor firms, Mr. Hawkins has 25 years of experience in private equity investing. Mr. Hawkins has served on the Board of Directors of 23 companies including: Captivate Network – a digital place based media company; HotJobs (NASDAQ: HOTJ) - a pioneer in online recruiting; P-Com (NASDAQ: PCOM) - a communications infrastructure equipment supplier; Demand Media (NYSE: DMD) – a leading online media company; thePlatform - a developer of digital content software solutions; Agility Recovery Solutions - a leading disaster recovery provider; High End Systems - a premier manufacturer of intelligent lighting; ShopWiki - an advanced comparison shopping search engine; Donuts – a domain registry where he is a board observer; ZirMed - a healthcare-focused revenue cycle management and analytics company where he is a board observer; and iCrossing - a large independent, global interactive advertising agency.

Mr. Hawkins graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with honors from Harvard College in 1982, where he was a John Harvard Scholar. He received his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1986. Mr. Hawkins is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization.


Andrew Hertzmark
Managing Partner


Andrew Hertzmark is a Managing Partner at Generation Partners. Mr. Hertzmark operates out of the firm’s Greenwich office.

Prior to joining Generation in 2004, Mr. Hertzmark was an Associate at Galen Partners, a private equity firm focused on growth equity investments in the healthcare industry. At Galen, Mr. Hertzmark focused his time primarily on the healthcare services and information technology industries.

Mr. Hertzmark also was an Analyst and Associate in the Investment Banking divisions of Dillon, Read & Co and UBS AG, respectively, where he worked on a variety of mergers, acquisitions and capital raising assignments for companies in the healthcare sector. Additionally, Mr. Hertzmark worked in the Business Development Group at Pfizer, Inc. as well as the National Economic Council within the Executive Office of the President.

Mr. Hertzmark earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business. Mr. Hertzmark has served on the Boards of Captivate Network, Post Education, ReCept Pharmacy, ShopWiki and Virtual Radiologic Corporation. He is also involved in the firm’s investment in Donuts and ZirMed. Mr. Hertzmark currently serves as Chairman of the Board of The Wholesome Wave Foundation and is a former Board Member of The New York League for Early Learning.


Louis Marino
Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer


Louis Marino is a Senior Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer at Generation Partners. Mr. Marino operates out of the firm’s Greenwich office.

Mr. Marino joined Generation in 2003 and assists in the diligence and execution of new investments and is also involved with many of the Firm's portfolio companies. Mr. Marino has served on the Boards of Agility Recovery Solutions, Captivate Network, MedVance Institute, Post Education, ReCept Pharmacy, and ShopWiki. He was also actively involved in the Firm’s investments in Donuts and Sterling InfoSystems.

Previously, Mr. Marino was a Senior Associate in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Audit and Business Advisory Services group for four years, focusing on public clients in the technology and business services industries.

Mr. Marino earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Boston College and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Connecticut.
